I looked at the small boy in the stroller and couldn’t help thinking how homely he was. Now I don’t usually think any child is ugly, but this time I did. Feeling disappointed in myself for my thoughts, I looked at him and smiled. He smiled back – and that smile of his was so genuine and so sweet that all of a sudden his entire appearance changed. He was the most beautiful little boy I’d ever laid eyes on. And I felt like I just wanted to go hug him! So what, exactly, was in his smile that changed my entire attitude? I believe it was love.
How do you see love – as beauty only – or can you find it anyplace you look for it?

It was raining really hard, but just the same, I had to do some shopping. Add the fact that I’d already worked all day and was near the poInt of exhaustion and it didn’t make for a very happy camper. So I trudged through the store wearily, eager to get finished and get home again so I could relax. Of course, matters only worsened when I did get done and discovered it was raining harder than ever. Not just raining, but pouring! With a sigh, I stood at the entranceway with my cart full of groceries, staring at what I had to run through to get to my car. What a day! - My thoughts stopped abruptly as my eyes caught sight of something extraordinary in the parking lot. Headed toward the store, with the biggest, happiest smile on his lips I’ve ever seen, was a little boy. His excitement was written all over him – in his eyes, in his laugh, in the way he moved effortlessly – as he “ran” ON ONLY ONE LEG AND CRUTCHES! What a humbling sight! At that moment, my weariness seemed to ebb away. All I could do was watch that child, who didn’t mind in the least that it was pouring rain, that he had no free hands to hold an umbrella over his head, or that he only had one leg. None of that seemed to matter to him. All he could think of was the excitement of where he was going and what would happen when he got there.
DO YOU EVER STOP TO WONDER EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE GOING AND WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO WHEN YOU GET THERE?
Or are you always too preoccupied with all the trials of life you're surrounded with at the moment? It's a great thought to ponder......
